Fans Witness the Creation of Professional Baseball Bats in
Rawlings® Making the Game Exhibits

JACKSON, Tenn. (May 29, 2003) – Delta Machinery is providing baseball fans a first-hand look at how the bats are created. As part of the Rawlings® Making the Game exhibits during the 2003 season, Delta 16-inch steel bed wood lathes are being used by expert woodworkers to turn bats at five major league baseball parks and a Six Flags amusement park.
“Watching the creation of a professional-quality wooden bat is a unique opportunity for many baseball fans and we are happy to partner with Rawlings on these exhibits,” said Chuck Hardin, director of marketing for Delta Machinery.
Bats are being turned on Delta’s premium wood lathes, models 46-745 and 46-746, at Busch Stadium and Six Flags St. Louis, Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Fenway Park in Boston, Pac Bell Park in San Francisco, and Turner Field in Atlanta. Rawlings and Delta Machinery hope to expand the program to other major league ball parks in the future. Visitors to Rawlings Making the Game exhibits can take home an adult, youth or mini bat personalized with laser-engraved name or signature. The exhibit also includes a Delta grinder to sharpen the tools and a Delta dust collector to keep the booth clean and safe.
