JACKSON, Tenn., July 29, 2003 – Porter-Cable’s new line of industrial series generators are equipped with powerful Honda GX commercial engines and advanced design alternators, which are maintenance free and generate the cleanest power available from any comparable power source resulting in cooler tool operation and increased life. With models PH350IS, CH350IS, H450IS-W, H650IS-W and H1000IS-W commercial users have multiple power, capacity and portability options to meet their specific job needs.

“Our new line of generators are rated for industrial duty ensuring operation whenever and wherever needed with minimal maintenance concerns,” said Charles Hampton, Porter-Cable generator product manager. “These generators utilize the engine of choice among contractors and high quality, maintenance free alternators to maximize work results across diverse job locations.”

The Honda GX engine provides users easy starting, long life and durability. The brushless design of the Porter-Cable advanced alternator eliminates routine maintenance and brush replacement, and reduces electrical noise (RFI). The rugged all-metal construction provides maximum reliability and longer life. In addition, the generators produce the cleanest power or lowest Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) available from any comparable power source.

“THD is a critical consideration of any generator,” Hampton said. “The electrical distortion that cannot be converted to power by an electric motor is turned into heat and the more heat produced the shorter the life of the motor. Our Porter-Cable generator produces 6 to 8 percent THD, while comparable generators produce as much 24 percent.”

Most of the Porter-Cable’s industrial series generators come equipped with large fuel tanks for longer use between refueling, idle control allowing the engine to automatically throttle down when no power is being used to reduce noise, engine wear and fuel consumption, and an hour meter for scheduling routine maintenance. Portability kits and lift kits come on several of the generators to provide a wide range of mobility options. In addition, each of the models feature the advanced alternator design, circuit breaker and low oil protection, cast-iron cylinder sleeve, and Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlets that reduce the chance of electrical shock.

The PH350IS, which have wheels, pro-line frame design, folding handles and wrap cord, and CH350IS generators operate at 3,500 rated watts (7,500 surge watts). Both generators are excellent power sources to meet any need for the housing and framing professional. The PH350IS model is available for approximately $729. The CH350IS model is available for approximately $899 and can be upgraded with a mobility kit.

The H450IS-W model has 4,500 rated watts (8,500 surge watts), and H650IS-W model has 6,500 rated watts (12,500 surge watts). The H450IS-W model is available for approximately $1,179 and the H650IS-W model is available for approximately $1,449.

The H1000IS-W model, 10,000 rated watts (19,500 surge watts), has electric start and pressure lubrication, a spin-on oil filter, and heavy-duty portability kit. This generator is equipped to meet the demands of any industrial job site. It is available for approximately $2,349.
