DELTA® MACHINERY RINGS IN THE NEW YEAR WITH INNOVATIVE LASER DRILL PRESSES AND TABLE SAWS AT 2006 IBS
1/11/2006

DELTA Machinery will feature its advanced laser drill presses and table saw fence systems along with an array of professional woodworking tools and accessories during the 2006 International Builders’ Show from Jan. 11 to Jan. 14 at booth W1501 in the Orange County Convention Center located in Orlando, Fla. At its booth, DELTA Machinery will demonstrate its new laser crosshair drill presses, designed with woodworkers in mind to deliver unparalleled accuracy and consistency; the CONTRACTOR’S SAW® line, featuring three versatile fence systems; TWINLASER® miter saws, unsurpassed in ease of use and control; and a fully adjustable universal mobile stand, capable of adapting to nearly any configuration.

LASER CROSSHAIR DRILL PRESSES

DELTA Machinery’s new 12-inch laser crosshair drill press, model DP300L, features a fully adjustable laser pod using two lasers to project a bright red crosshair on the work surface showing exactly where the bit will contact the material. With improved accuracy and performance, the laser crosshair is ideal for drilling holes in wood, metal or plastic, and mortising or edge sanding by easily attaching sanding drums. Powered by a single 9-volt battery, the laser pod has a rocker-style power switch on the body of the pod. The DP300L drill press has an integrated lamp for better visibility, large tool tray for extra bit storage and a tilting table for angled drilling. The DP300L will be available in April 2006, and will range in price from $189.
The new 16 1/2-inch laser crosshair drill press, model 17-950L offers users more capacity and a fully adjustable laser pod using two lasers to project a bright red crosshair on the work surface showing exactly where the bit will contact the material. Reaching a depth of up to 3 7/8-inches, the 17-950L has the longest quill travel in its class. Ideal for serious and professional woodworkers, the drill press has a woodworking-friendly table which is capable of tilting 45 degrees forward and 90 degrees side-to-side. The table tilt is easily controlled by loosening knobs under the table while the table itself rotates on two trunnions. The 17-950L will be available for purchase in May 2006 and will range in price from $399.

CONTRACTOR’S SAW®

The DELTA® CONTRACTOR’S SAW® line – models 36-978, 36-980, 36-981 and 36-982 – features blades that tilt to the left (away from the fence) for the professional and advanced nonprofessional woodworker. The table saws are enhanced with improved mobility, dust collection, larger table surface and the choice of three superior fence systems to provide improved cutting accuracy.

The three fence systems have front locking mechanisms and are functionally the same but offer the user different benefits. The DELTA UNIFENCE® is surface adjustable, which allows for fine-tuning without removing the fence from the saw. It can be used in a high or low position, and is capable of being positioned forward and backward to add support in front of the blade or to be used as a cut-off fence. The T-square design of the BIESEMEYER® fence is made of welded steel and the fence faces are made of laminated plywood, hand-sanded to within .006 inch. The fence itself is accurate to within 1/64 inch using the scale system. Similarly, the DELTA® T2 includes a one-piece solid front rail and a T-square fence design. The steel construction is lighter than the BIESEMEYER® and the aluminum fence faces are removable.

Each CONTRACTOR’S SAW® allows up to 30 inches of accurate ripping capacity with the fence. The 36-978 has two steel extension wings and a DELTA® T2 fence system, the 36-980 has two cast-iron extension wings and a DELTA® T2 fence system, the 36-981 has two cast-iron extension wings and a UNIFENCE® system, while the 36-982 has two cast-iron extension wings and is equipped with the BIESEMEYER® fence system.

The saws include dust collection with a 4-inch port in the bottom of the cabinet to attach an integrated dust chute. Built-in mobility onto a super stiff stand allows woodworkers to move the saw into larger areas as well as against a wall when not in use. All saws operate with a two capacitor 1 1/2 HP, 120/240 volt motor and have a clear blade guard with splitter and anti-kickback fingers. The 37-978, 36-980, 36-981 and 36-982 are available for purchase and will range in price from $579 to $849.

TWINLASER® MITER SAWS

The accuracy, durability and ease-of-use of DELTA® TWINLASER® miter saws, models 36-322L and 36-422L, make them ideal for cabinet shop workers, trim installers and woodworkers. The twin-laser system combined with tall reversible sliding fences, and adjustable bevel and miter detent plates provide unparalleled accuracy for miter saws. The large readable scales, up-front bevel controls, cam lock miter and easy-to-carry handles make the saws easy-to-use and control. In addition, the miter saws feature vertical and horizontal cut capacities. The 36-322L and 36-422L are currently available and can be purchased for $299 and $369, respectively.

UNIVERSAL MOBILE STAND

With fully adjustable table mounting brackets, the DELTA® universal mobile stand, model 36-136, is able to adapt to nearly any miter saw, thickness planer, portable table saw or other bench top tools. The stand has fully adjustable infeed and outfeed rollers to provide up to eight feet of support. The durable steel construction allows for a 500-pound weight capacity, and the pneumatic-assisted raising and lowering mechanism allows for easy use and prevents strain. The mobile stand can lock into three positions enabling users to adjust the level according to their needs. The wide rubber wheels provide easy jobsite or workshop mobility, and the stand can be stored vertically with the tool attached to maximize workspace. The 36-136 is available to be purchased for $200.

SPECIAL GUESTS

In addition to the tools and accessories featured at the booth, there will be a guest appearance by Norm Abram, host of “The New Yankee Workshop” on Wednesday, Jan. 11, and Scott Phillips, host of “The American Homeshop” on Thursday, Jan. 12 and Friday, Jan. 13. DELTA Machinery also will have representatives available to provide product detail and demonstrations.
