Visitors to Porter-Cable's New Web Site Can Register to Join the Porter-Cable Performance Crew
2/26/2003

Jackson, Tenn. (Feb. 26, 2003) – Always Redefining Performance™, Porter-Cable, a leading manufacturer of power tools and related products, now redefines its Web site by offering information, project resources and personal stories that power tool enthusiasts can really use. The new interactive Web site (www.portercable.com) launches on Feb. 26, 2003 and is designed to serve as an in-depth resource for do-it-yourselfers and professional contractors.

“Our new Web site is designed to engage users of all building-skill levels by providing everything they could possibly need on power tools,” said Mike Hibbison, director of marketing for Porter-Cable Corporation. “It contains everything from seemingly simple items like product warranty information to easy-to-follow project plans and illustrations to the Porter-Cable Performance Crew™, where tool owners can share information and stories.”

Now easier to navigate, the Web site features useful information about Porter-Cable power tools such as a product catalog with tool descriptions, photos and tool specifications. Online product registration, downloadable owners’ manuals, and frequently asked questions provide Porter-Cable power tool owners with all the information they need 24-hours a day.

By joining Porter-Cable’s Performance Crew, visitors to the Web site can access project plans -- ranging from how to build oval shaker boxes to constructing a trestle table – including step-by-step instructions and detailed illustrations. Also, featured in this section are personal stories of accomplishments and successful projects, and useful tips and techniques for using power tools. Crew members may choose to submit their own stories and photographs as well as tips and techniques they have discovered, which may be featured on the Web site.

The free membership in the Performance Crew entitles users to 10 percent off Porter-Cable Performance Gear, a chance to win a Porter-Cable Grip-To-Fit® cordless 19.2 volt drill each month and eligibility to enter Porter-Cable promotions like the current Blue Angels Adventure Vacation. The first 500 people to sign up for the Performance Crew will receive a personalized, autographed photograph of Norm Abram, star of “The New Yankee Workshop.” As the 15th season of “The New Yankee Workshop” starts on PBS in April 2003, Porter-Cable Performance Crew members can get real-time, behind-the-scenes access during the filming of the shows through a Webcam. The show’s production dates and schedule are available on Porter-Cable’s Web site.

Additional features of the Web site include a database of Porter-Cable dealers and service centers, a search feature to find parts for Porter-Cable power tools, and an area to request literature and a catalog. Visitors to the Web site can access Porter-Cable corporate information, read the latest news and learn about events in which the company is participating.
