Introducing the New DELTA® UNISAW®
Introducing the New DELTA® UNISAW®
Made in America, New Saw Features Category-defining Innovations
JACKSON, Tenn. (Aug. 20, 2008)
– DELTA Machinery, which introduced the industry’s first and only 10-inch industrial cabinet saw with the UNISAW® name in the 1930’s, today announced it has completely re-engineered and re-designed its flagship table saw from the ground up. The new UNISAW®, an iconic centerpiece in countless wood shops, will be built and assembled in Jackson, Tenn.
Offered in three left-tilting arbor saw configurations (models 36-L336, 36-L352 and 36-L552), the new UNISAW® will utilize dozens of patent-pending design features and manufacturing processes. The new UNISAW® was shown at the 2008 International Woodworking Fair (IWF) from Aug. 20 to Aug. 23 at Booth #5413 in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
“DELTA Machinery is known for quality, professional woodworking tools. As the foundation of our brand, the new UNISAW® reflects the tradition, experience and heritage of the DELTA brand, while utilizing the most advanced technology and quality control in the industry to achieve previously unseen consistency in accuracy and performance,” stated Michael Boie, product manager for DELTA Machinery. “Combined with a superior level of durability in the saw’s cast-iron components and MARATHON® motor, the new UNISAW® sets the standard for user-driven innovation in cabinet saws within its class.”
Accuracy and Control
Within the saw’s cabinet, a unique one-piece cast-iron trunnion design results in adjustment controls being positioned together prominently on the front of the saw. A bevel gauge, centered between dual front cranks is accurate to a ½ degree, allowing for precise adjustment, control and cut accuracy.
The dual cranks also provide for smooth operation and the ability to lock controls from moving during cut passes. As opposed to crawling inside the cabinet for adjustments, the blade bevel can be fine-tuned from the cabinet’s front using two large Allen screws.
Ease of Use
Engineered with advanced table geometry, the new UNISAW® delivers increased material support and control in front of the blade. Behind the blade, a true rise and fall riving knife enables through and non-through cuts with the adjustment of a tool-free mechanism. A large throat plate and shrouded blade leaves additional access to a tool-free arbor lock and a single-piece arbor nut and washer. For safe operation around the blade, the saw is equipped with a user-friendly, two-position, versatile guarding system with tool-free adjustability.
During operation, there is a fully integrated dust collection system with a dual port to allow the removal of dust and debris directly from the cabinet and blade simultaneously. Using a lockable-hinged front cabinet door, the saw also offers improved accessibility for easy cabinet cleaning and interior inspection.
Responding to insight from end-user research, the new UNISAW® is designed with an on-board storage system to give woodworkers access to the essential accessories needed for operating the saw, including a throat plate, guarding components, a blade wrench, a push stick, arbor nuts, a dado head and three 10-inch blades, among other accessories. Positioned under the extension bed, the storage drawer ensures accessories are not misplaced in between projects and are conveniently at-hand during saw applications.
The new UNISAW® will come with a new industrial-grade 50-tooth precision DELTA® combination blade, a push stick, an easy-to-grip blade wrench and an instructional DVD.
The new UNISAW® will be available in three different configurations including
- Model 36-L336: 10-inch, Left-tilt, 3 horsepower motor and 36-inch BIESEMEYER® fence and rail system
- Model 36-L352: 10-inch, Left-tilt, 3 horsepower motor and 52-inch BIESEMEYER® fence and rail system
- Model 36-L552: 10-inch, Left-tilt, 5 horsepower and single-phase motor, and52-inch BIESEMEYER® fence and rail system
Ideal for general ripping, cross cutting, mortise and tenoning, panel ripping, dado cutting, re-sawing, and miter gauge and jig applications, the new UNISAW®, models 36-L336, 36-L352 and 36-L552, will be available for purchase in early 2009. Pricing is to be determined.
